The Owners

Ted Hovig
Ted started the business over 25 years ago with a desire to be self-employed, with a good basic knowledge of plant material and a real zest for all things horticultural. He gained experience by working at a retail nursery and progressed from there to accumulating landscape maintenance accounts all the while continuing his education in horticulture.

Ted has obtained a state Pest Control License, and California State Contractors License. In addition, Ted has educated himself regarding the care of native oaks.

He has a special interest in and knowledge of irrigation systems, including their design, maintenance and troubleshooting. Currently he satisfies himself by actively managing the installation of Carol's Landscape designs and assisting wherever he can in the ongoing maintenance accounts. He enjoys the problem solving aspect of the installation process and "getting the job done". He believes that it is possible and works toward the goal.

Carol Hovig

Carol has been working in the landscape business for more than twenty years. She has experience in the maintenance, design, and installation of residential landscapes. Over the years she has developed an excellent knowledge of plant materials, their requirements and uses. Carol has cultivated an interest in perennials. A natural extension of this interest has been the design, implementation, and care of numerous “cottage” gardens.

Living in an area that has a native deer population, particularly in the foothill areas, has been a real challenge for Carol's design and plant choice decisions. She has developed a palate of deer "tolerant" plants that have met the challenge of this particular problem. Her sense of form, texture, and color combined with her native creativity and intelligence ensure a satisfying landscape.
